I love homemade cookies.
Warm from the oven with a nice cold glass of milk...mmmmm.
Can't get much better than that!
These cookies have been a favorite for a while, and I'm excited to share them here on the blog!
1 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. white sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. M&M's
1/2 c. chocolate chips (optional)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375.
In a large mixing bowl beat shortening and butter on low-medium speed for about 1 minute.
Add brown sugar, white sugar, and baking soda. Continue mixing until combined.
Scrape sides as needed.
Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined.
Add flour and mix together.
Lastly, mix in M&M's and chocolate chips.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Using a spoon, scoop out cookie dough onto the parchment paper.
(if you can, place cookie sheet in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes. This will cool the cookie dough a little and keep the cookies from spreading while baking).
When ready, bake cookies for about 8 minutes.
You want to pull the cookies out right before they start to brown.
Let cookies sit for a minute and then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.

It all started one year, a little after Halloween.
My boys had lots of packs of M&M's and I thought this would be a good way to use them up.
We've had a chocolate chip cookie recipe we've used for years, but this time we had decided to add the M&M's and it was magical.
Let's take a look at how these lovelies come together
