Today's review is of a game called Circuit Maze from the company ThinkFun.
This is the second game we have reviewed from this company, (the other review was for a game called Square by Square. You can check out that review here).
As soon as I saw what this was I couldn't wait for my son to try it out.
We still love playing the Square by Square game, and I was hoping this one would be just as awesome.
I am here to tell you that it is!
I absolutely LOVE games that teach and challenge young minds, and this one definitely fits that description!
The game says ages 8+ and single player.
Here is a shot of all of the pieces included in the game.
- blue board to hold connectors
- 3 different colored lights (or beacons as they're referred to)
- connector pieces
- 60 challenge cards ranging from beginner to expert
- battery holder (batteries are not included. You will need 3 AAA batteries).
- instruction manual
To start out, you select a challenge card and place the connectors on the board as shown on the card. You then grab the remaining suggested pieces and try to fit them together to get a working current to light up the beacons.
Here is my oldest taking his first crack at the game.
My husband showed him how to firmly push the piece in so it stays, and then other than that my son was off on his own figuring how everything fit together.
I LOVED watching his little mind work and problem solve to complete the challenge.
I would definitely recommend this game to others.

Make sure to watch the video below to see my son in action :)
