Ugly Sweater Trophy

This last week we had our Relief Society Christmas party.
(Relief Society is basically the women's group in our church. I am in charge of planning the monthly activities.)
Along with a dinner I decided to have games and a 'festive sweater' or 'festive outfit' contest.
(I'll do another post with the details of the games and everything).
To add to the fun I wanted to have a trophy and prize to give to the winner for putting forth the effort of dressing up of course! ;)
I just have to say, I'm pretty bummed that I didn't get a better picture of the finished product. I was so busy that day with last-minute prep for the party that I totally spaced it.

To start out I drew a sweater design on a small scrap piece of cardboard and cut it out.
I then went through my fabric scraps and found some red pieces of felt.
I glued the felt pieces to the cardboard with a glue gun.
I glued the felt on the front and the back of the cardboard.
I then glued a yellow pipe cleaner around the edges of the cardboard to cover it up.
It's looking awesome!
Next I cut out a Christmas tree,
and glued it to the middle of the sweater.
I then glued on some pompom balls as ornaments for the tree.
I outlined the whole sweater with some red glitter glue,
and then set it out to dry.
For the base of the trophy I grabbed a scrap piece of a 2x4 that I had in my stash and I drilled a small hole.
I then filled the hole with glue.
I had cut up a metal coat hanger earlier and I had a small piece left over from that, so I stuck that remaining piece into the glue.
I then painted the block.
I put a small dab of glue on the top of the metal,
and then stuck the metal into the bottom of the sweater, into the cardboard.
It all dried pretty quickly, and then it was ready to go!
I loved how this turned out, exactly how I pictured it in my head!
Again, I'm pretty bummed it's not a better picture.
Along with this awesome trophy I also gave the winner a copy of White Christmas on DVD.
A great way to finish our Christmas party I'd say!
