How to fix footie jammies

During the winter months my older son lives in his footie jammies.
I'm not even kidding.
Needless to say they didn't last long before these holes started showing up.
Since winter is only half-way through I knew I needed to fix them before they got any worse.
I could have just cut the foot part off and we wouldn't even be dealing with this, but my son is a master at being warm and snuggly, and his feet needed to be that way as well. Seriously. :)
So, here is what I did.

I turned the feet inside out,
and picked the stitching to completely remove the bottom fabric,
I had to do this with 2 pairs of jammies.

Using the bottom fabric piece I removed, I then traced and cut out 4 new pieces of fabric, (since I had two pairs of jammies to fix).
I used a soft flannel that I had on hand.
Place the fabric right-side down on the foot opening, and try to line up the sides as best you can.
The bottom fabric will be slightly smaller than the foot opening because the bottom just goes flat across the bottom of the foot,
I sewed twice around the feet.
First I went around with a straight stitch, and then I went back around with a zig-zag stitch.
I just wanted to make sure it was reinforced.
I know it will be getting plenty of wear!
Turn the feet right-side out and you're all done!
Here's a close up of one pair of his jammies.
There are some white threads sticking out because I originally did it another way and had to go back and rip the seams and start again.
He wanted to wear them to bed so badly, so I will have to trim those white threads at another time.

Now those cute little feet will be all warm and cuddly :)
Do you have footies at your house?
How do you handle the holes?
