Fabric Flower Tutorial

Welcome to a new year!

My first post of the new year is a tutorial.
If you were here a few weeks ago you might remember the post I wrote for my new Christmas stocking I made. (If you didn't get a chance to see the super awesome tutorial, you can find it here DIY Burlap Stocking) I had added this beautiful flower to my stocking as a finishing touch.
I am back now with a step-by-step tutorial to show you how it all came together.
I had some brown scrap fabric in my stash so I just cut off a corner.

I then cut out 4 teardrop/clover leaf type shapes in the brown fabric, and I then cut out a much smaller version in the leftover white fabric from my stocking.
Using a hot glue gun I then glued the white piece, just at the tip, and pressed it down on the brown piece.
I then pinched the tip together and placed a small dab of glue in the pinched part.
Sorry, that part was hard to get a picture of while I was doing it!
I hope it makes sense.
I then laid it out on the stocking to see how I liked it.
I glued all of the 'pinched' parts together at the back.
Here is a view of the front.
Next, add a dab of glue right in the middle,
and press the pearl down in place.
Put a lot of glue on the back of the flower,
and attach to the stocking.
I love how this turned out!
This whole project was so much fun because it was a lot of firsts for me, first time making a stocking, first time working with burlap, and first time making a fabric flower!

Thanks for reading and as always, please let me know if you have any questions!

  2. Your little flower really makes the stocking. How could anyone resist lace and pearls?
